We believe your AI conversations are deeply personal. Unlike traditional services, Personal AI Memory does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on external servers.

• No account registration required.
• No tracking pixels or telemetry (e.g., Google Analytics).
• No background uploading of your chat logs.

2. Local Storage Architecture

The extension utilizes the following local browser technologies to manage your data:

• IndexedDB: All conversation text and metadata are stored in this encrypted-at-rest (by OS) local database within your browser profile.
• Chrome Storage API: Used exclusively for your personal settings and UI preferences.

Your data is only accessible to the extension on your specific device and browser profile. If you uninstall the extension, all local data is permanently deleted by the browser unless you have manually exported a backup.

3. Permission Transparency

To provide its core functionality, the extension requires specific technical permissions. Here is why:

• storage & unlimitedStorage: Necessary to save large volumes of chat history locally without hitting browser limits.
• scripting & content_scripts: Required to "read" the chat interface on supported domains (like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to capture the text for your local archive.
• host_permissions: Limits the extension's ability to only function on the AI sites you intend to archive.
• offscreen: Used for high-performance background tasks like building a searchable index of your local data without slowing down your active tab.

4. No Remote Code Execution

In compliance with modern security standards (Manifest V3), Personal AI Memory does not load or execute any remote scripts. All logic is bundled locally within the extension package. This prevents "man-in-the-middle" attacks and ensures that the code you see on GitHub is the exact code running in your browser.

5. Third-Party API Integration (Optional)

If you choose to use optional features such as "AI Insights" or "Vector Search" via third-party providers (e.g., OpenAI API, Hugging Face):

• Your API keys are stored locally in your browser.
• Data is sent directly from your browser to the API provider.
• We (the developers) never see your keys or the content of these requests.

6. User Rights: Export & Deletion

You have 100% ownership of your data. Within the extension settings, you can:

• Export: Download all your stored memories in .json format at any time.
• Selective Deletion: Remove specific sessions or individual messages.
• Full Reset: Wipe the entire local IndexedDB database with one click.

7. Security Best Practices

Since your data is stored locally, its security depends on your device's security. We recommend:

• Keeping your browser (Chrome/Edge/Brave) up to date.
• Using device-level encryption (like FileVault or BitLocker).
• Being cautious when exporting .json backups containing sensitive info.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update, amend, or modify this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason without prior notice.
